In my artwork, I use performance art to depict the loss of the heritage building, “Tjihampelas Bath Center.” I create a replica of the building using rainbow cakes on a slanting table. Meanwhile, two anonymous individuals conduct a deal “under the table” at a dining table to represent the bribery involved in decision-making processes. The cake is also sliced and distributed among the audience members to eat. This act represents the public’s ignorance and acceptance of demolishing heritage buildings to replace them with superblocks.Through this artwork, I am criticizing the lack of preservation of heritage buildings, which have become a target for capitalist gains. The demolition of such heritage buildings has become a real issue affecting the public.
